The Love Affair with Lilly.

Monday, October 27, 2008

A long-time Lilly Pulitzer fan, I tried to suppress my love of the pink and green in a vain attempt at going for more edgy trendy styles. If you've ever seen me, you know my success was limited. (Edgy for me is wearing dark gray eye shadow, or choosing an outfit that doesn't have fur, rhinestones, patent leather, or bows.

So...I'm taking my love for Lilly out of the closet. And I'm starting with these boots - because they're my favorite thing in the current Fall collection. If they weren't suede I'd drool over their loveliness (but obviously you can't get suede wet, so I'll try to restrain myself).

I'm the teensiest bit skeptical of how this dress would look on me (I typically can't carry off the slouchy silhouette well, but the little sash at the waist might just keep it tailored enough...)

Not typically a big yellow OR navy fan...but the little ruffled button placket on the front and the 3/4 length sleeves are winning me over on this number:

Sequins, a v-neckline, hourglass tailoring. Really, who wouldn't like this dress?

Alan is probably sick of seeing me in cardigans...but I love how versatile they are! Plus, here in Dallas everywhere you go is over-air conditioned, so it's necessary to carry a sweater with you at all times - even in the dead heat of summer!

Bangles in candy colors. I love how girly they are!

Again with the slightly looser shape that I find so hard to work with on my frame...but the bell-sleeves and precious print are worth the trouble. I'd add a black patent leather belt to bring in the waist, and maybe some little red shoes...perfection!

I'm coveting these boots. As in, would give up lunch for a month to save up for them. That sounds painful though, probably I'll be begging Alan for them. :)

The T-Shirt Dress.

I just bought this fun little t-shirt dress at the Gap on Monday...and today is the second time I have worn it...is that a bad thing?

The Holiday Dresses...

I love fall and winter for many reasons, one of them being all of the parties that inevitably occur around the holidays! Here are a couple of dresses I have my eye on for the festivities...

Anthropologie
Such a pretty cherry-red, before I married Alan I didn't own ONE piece of red clothing. Thankfully, he's convinced me that I look pretty in red, and I have to admit that I'm grateful - it's such a festive and energetic color (plus if you spill red wine, no one will ever know!). The silhouette on this dress is totally channeling a 1950's housewife, and I love love love it!

Tory Burch

Found on e-bay (my personal downfall), this Tory Burch dress would be so cute for a New Year's Eve party, or to a Christmas cocktail party. Metallics just scream "holiday" to me...(and yet I still wear them year round. Hmmm).
The Gap
Wrap dress, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways: 1. You reduce the size of my waist to the size of...well, better than it is now. 2. You have such a lovely holiday color. 3. You flatter the girls. 4. You're the perfect length as to not overwhelm my little body. It's official. I'm smitten.
Moschino Cheap & Chic
Gorgeously tailored. Perfect pop of color. Out of my price range. :(
White House Black Market
Looks suspiciously just like this Michael Kors dress...and I love it!

This dress is absolutely, drop-dead, stunningly gorgeous. I mean, seriously.
