The First Style Influence.

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Everyone has their own style, and I am no different. I won't bore you with all of them in one blog post, but for now, here is one person who has influenced my style.

Karen Walker (real name: Megan Mullaly).
Will and Grace - best show EVER after Sex and the City. (In my opinion, anyway). I used to constantly get told that I look like Karen by friends, co-workers, even the pretzel lady at the American Airlines Center during a Mavericks Game. Here's how that conversation went down:

Pretzel Lady: "Honey, you look just like that chick from that show."
Kristin: "Um, thank you."
Pretzel Lady: "You know, the one with the squeaky voice that's always drunk".
Kristin: (How many beers have I had?)"Can I have my pretzel please?"

Let's compare the similarities.
1. Loves dirty martini's.
Karen - yes, and don't waste any room with that olive, honey!
Kristin - yes, and don't use cheap vodka, honey!

2. Is a little scatterbrained/ADD/energetic.
Karen - yes, although very lazy if there is anything to do.
Kristin - yes - although very lazy if there is laundry to do.

3. Has a maid.
Karen - yes, Rosario is the best.
Kristin - no, but would if she could.

4. Has a squeaky voice.
Karen - yes.
Kristin - just call her muppet...

5. Loves fur, patent leather, animal print, and anything from Neiman's.
Karen - oh yes!
Kristin - oh yes!

Eh. Similar, but not quite the same. I'm the Karen minus the overweight, neglectful husband (mine is super-fit and very attentive), driver & maid (wish I had them, though), giant mansion (I like my house, thank you), and limitless charge cards (kind of wish I had those).

I LOVE LOVE LOVE almost all of Karen's clothes...we have - ahem - very similar body types. The tailoring and fit of her clothes is very close to what I gravitate towards, plus it's fun colors and prints, which I love!

I leave you with some words of wisdom from Karen:

"Gosh, I don't think I've ever been stressed out. Why would I be? I've got practically no responsibilities, my job's a breeze, and I've got a KILLER rack. Good morning."
